I think they're so sweet! I love charm bracelets and have one I've been keeping since I was 16. It has oodles of charms on it. Alas, I can't join the club because my daughter is too old. So I've been scouring the web to find look-alike charms, such as the adorable cake.
Does anyone know where I can get charms that are similar to the AG club ones? I don't mind the fact that it will be non-AG but I'd like to start my own AG-style charm bracelet. And that cake has got to be on it!

I've seen a lot of places selling charms lately. Gymboree, Claire's and a local children's clothing boutique. The ones at Gymboree are even on sale but I didn't look too closely at them. Claire's had a ton of them, but they didn't seem as nice as the ones at the boutique. They had so many adorable ones that I bought each of my oldest DDs a bracelet and several charms for Christmas last year. Each girl has charms for everything they love-dance, princesses, soccer, horses, unicorns, dolphins, etc. Department stores also have charms-I've seen them at Kohl's and I'm sure others have them, too.
What a treasure to have one with all of your interests since you were a teen, it must bring back wonderful memories.

I remember they had them at AGPNY in September, on the historic dolls floor.

Maybe if you contact AG and ask about the charms, perhaps they could sell them to you.

Can you join in the name of a cousin, niece or friends daughter? I was considering joining, but my Daughter is probably too young, if they have age rules.

You can buy the charms in the AG Club Shop. If that doesn't work, then check here: http://store.americangirl.com/pls/ag...searchstr=club .

Julia,
I have my own club membership as well as my dd having one. Do you ever have young people over? My dd had a sleepover guest (age 11) this weekend. She has Kaya and an AGOT but is not on the club. They went on and I said she could use my club. She sent in a bunch of book reports and won me stars - that girl could type! I was glad I had the membership then - it's like a guest membership for when someone comes over.
If you don't get such visitors, you can still earn stars for yourself. The only thing I would not recommend is writing other kids on there - that's just creepy!
We get charms on ebay. 1000's of choices at any given time. I gave all my nieces charm bracelets and add to them every year, plus my dd has a couple and I have one.
Thanks for bringing this topic up, BTW - we draw names for Christmas gifting and this year I drew a child I've never met - she is in the process of being adopted from Mexico. I've been trying to think of something personal for her, that will welcome her into the family. What better idea than a charm bracelet with charms that tie her history in with ours!
You might like this idea:
My dd has the pewter charms that were sold on a Christmas stocking. We added to the set when Hallmark came out with similar charms, and then I decided to pick up silver charms to represent the different girls' lives. You'd be amazed at what is available - Kit's exact waffle iron ( which opens to reveal a waffle ) a hen that sits on a nest, and opens to reveal eggs, peg style clothes pins for Addy, a victorola, Kit's telephone, and typewriter, a high button shoe, a pot bellied stove, various baskets, a Ben Franklin stove,.Mollie's radio and bicycle, roller skates, ice skates... the list is endless. Just make a list of your favorite elements from the books and go shopping on ebay.
My dd does have a birthday cake charm ( a b-day gift) out of silver too - it is 3-D and looks like Mollys. Very cute. We like the Club charms too of course, but this one is more special, at last to us, because it is another way to play with the dolls, seeking out things that remind us of them.

You can register for the club as an adult only and then you would be able to purchase the charms and other club items. You don't need to have a child to do that part.

There is a new club AGPNY charm only sold at AGPNY for $6. It is two stars and one of them says American Girl Place.
